On March 27th and 28th, we held our final Country Day of the year, “Peru Day”!
Since January, the children have been learning about Peru, deepening their knowledge of the Spanish language, traditional clothing such as ponchos and hats, Peruvian cuisine (including purple corn), and unique animals like llamas and vicuñas. They were especially fascinated to learn that llama wool is processed into coats and that vicuña wool is extremely valuable.
On the day of the event, the children enjoyed Picarones, a traditional Peruvian sweet, while showcasing their learning through various performances in front of their parents.
Class Activities:
- 1-2-year-old class: Performed an adorable dance to Peruvian music. The children danced energetically to the rhythm, delighting the parents with their enthusiasm.
- 3-year-old class: Hosted a Peruvian Village Market, playing shopkeepers and interacting with their friends to recreate the atmosphere of a traditional Peruvian market.
- 4-year-old class: Held a Peru-themed quiz show, where they reviewed what they had learned and confidently answered questions, deepening their understanding through fun and interactive learning.
- 5-year-old class: Each group researched and presented on Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and llamas. They confidently gave presentations in front of the parents, developing their ability to express themselves and convey information effectively.
To conclude the event, the children played “Baila Baila” using traditional Peruvian instruments, filling the venue with energy and excitement!
Through Peru Day, the children had the opportunity to engage with a different culture, develop an appreciation for diversity, enhance their communication and presentation skills, and strengthen their ability to research and express their thoughts. We believe this was a valuable experience that expanded our students’ curiosity and understanding of the world in a fun and engaging way!
