On Tuesday, June 4, representatives from Apollo Dental Clinic visited our school to lead a special toothbrushing lesson for the children.
The session began with an engaging puppet show to explain cavities in an easy-to-understand way. The children listened with great interest as they learned where cavities are most likely to form and why they occur. Many of them watched intently, wondering, “Does this happen to my teeth too?”
Next, the children used a pink, fluoride-based plaque-disclosing solution to check for any areas they had missed while brushing. Looking into mirrors, they were surprised to see red-stained areas on their teeth and exclaimed, “I missed this spot!”
Dental hygiene students from the clinic kindly demonstrated the proper way to use a toothbrush. With toothbrushes in hand, the children practiced the techniques themselves, learning hands-on and step-by-step.
They were also taught the difference between baby teeth (primary teeth) and adult teeth (permanent teeth), which deepened their understanding of oral health.
By the end of the session, the children were motivated and inspired to brush more carefully every day. It was a truly meaningful and educational experience for all.
