At Beyondia International School Meguro, we focus on nurturing the skills children need before entering elementary school and providing experiences that support their future learning. Our educational lessons, led by Mrs. Sullivan, are designed for children aged 3 to 5.
Learning About “Flowers” and “Vegetables” Through Seasonal Themes
This summer, our lessons focused on seasonal themes of flowers, vegetables, and food. The children observed real plant photos and illustrations, making discoveries such as, “I noticed that flowers have different colors and shapes,” and “The leaves of vegetables are this big!”
During creative activities, the children used scissors for paper cutting and colored their work with crayons to make original creations. Through these fine-motor tasks, their concentration and dexterity naturally developed, and many children eagerly followed the teacher’s instructions.
Developing Thinking Skills Through Shape Activities
The children also explored shapes. Combining triangles, squares, circles, and more, they excitedly realized, “Shapes are fun!” Activities with shapes help develop spatial awareness, observation skills, and logical thinking—another major benefit of these lessons.
The Joy of Learning and Experiencing Growth
At Beyondia, we value experiences where children learn to understand and respond to the teacher’s guidance in group activities. As they progress from younger to older classes, they gradually develop the ability to think and act independently.
This summer, we saw significant growth reflected in the children’s smiles of accomplishment and their focused engagement. Observation skills, thinking skills, and expressive abilities all flourished, making this summer’s educational lessons a season where the seeds of learning truly took root.
